REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY OF WOOD BUFFALO offers CAD 15-25 hourly for the Utility Treatment Technician position. Under the direction of many superiors, the Utility Treatment Technician, Water Treatment performs routine tasks that affect the safety and purity of the water supply. Reservoir and pumping station maintenance, laboratory work, office management, and other similar tasks may fall under this category.

The Utility Treatment Technician (UTT) ranks from Trainee (no certification) through Level I, Level II, Level III, and Level IV, depending on the technician’s Water Treatment Certification from Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP).

  • CAD 15-25 per hour

Job Responsibilities and Overview:

  • Take part in the development and upkeep of long-term and short-term water program strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation of new procedures that further the aims of the branch as a whole.
  • Partner with outside firms to enhance and expand your current operations.
  • Be the point person for the water treatment facility, liaising with the engineering department and outside groups and offering technical advice on strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Keep AEP and other government organizations updated on the situation as it develops.
  • Take on any additional tasks that may be thrown your way.

Qualification/ About the Applicant

  • Able to work under pressure and employ a wide range of skills to operate the machinery, tools, and mobile equipment found in municipal water treatment plants.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of devices and equipment for testing and sampling.
  • Capacity to take direction orally and in writing, as well as to read and understand technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with coworkers through open and honest communication.
  • Prove your dependability by completing jobs with increasing degrees of oversight or even entirely independently.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and statistics for doing volume, flow, velocity, chemical dosage, consumption, and similar calculations.
