The janitor at the Santa Cruz Corps shelter is responsible for overseeing the residents and the services they receive. Every day, the shelter’s janitor ensures that the building and grounds are clean and in working order. Candidates should be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.   • USD 15-25 per hour

Job Responsibilities and Overview:

  • Keep the shelter’s hallways, dining halls, donation room, storage room, staff break room, kitchen, and storage containers clean and well-organized.
  • Cleaning duties consist of sweeping, mopping, and replenishing cleaning supplies while checking their labels for accuracy.
  • Dispose of trash and disinfect counters, door knobs, stalls, and urinals in the staff bathroom. Clean the floor and mop the floor. Refill the paper towel, soap, feminine hygiene items, and cleaning supply drawers. Remove used mop heads and refill buckets.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary mobile shower unit; report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to upper management. As needed, get new shower curtains and other accessories.
  • Clean out the refrigerators, getting rid of anything that has gone bad, is mislabeled, or has mold.
  • Remove waste from the Armory’s inside and exterior. Put new garbage bags in cans.
  • Perform any other job-related tasks as assigned by your supervisor and/or higher-ups.
  • Other duties in a similar vein as needed

Qualification/ About the Applicant

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent (Required)
  • The age of majority is 18 (Required)
  • Able to handle and organize many tasks
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects at once
  • Able to cut the grass and maintain the fence using the materials given Clear and concise communication skills
  • Capacity to treat shelter visitors with dignity and respect
