SHARED HEALTH offers CAD 10-20 hourly for the Medical Laboratory Assistant position.  Shared Health is responsible for directing and coordinating the statewide implementation of patient-focused, preventative, and clinical health services in Manitoba. Some health services are provided statewide, and the organization also provides back-end administrative and business support to other health agencies in Manitoba.

Medical laboratory assistants (MLAs) work under the direction of the Charge Technologist or their designee to aid in the laboratory’s triage, accession, and processing of specimens. The MLA also authorized to carry out standard operating procedures (SOPs) as necessary.
Carries out phlebotomies in accordance with established procedures. The MLA will keep things secure by following all relevant professional and provincial regulations, as well as by adhering to all quality assurance programs and Accreditation requirements. Sharing Health’s current rules and procedures, as well as any laws that may in effect, are strictly adhered to at all times.

Job Responsibilities and Overview:

• A minimum of a Manitoba Standard Diploma or its international equivalent is required.
• Ideally, you will have graduated from a Medical Laboratory Assistant training program.
• Certification as a medical laboratory assistant with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory
• Science (CSMLS) is highly recommended.
• You need to be using a Windows-based computer.
• Applications from Microsoft Office are favored.
• We recommend using a medical jargon.
• Prefer using standard procedures and sterile equipment.
• The ability to type at 50 to 55 words per minute is a plus.
• Use your familiarity with fractions, percentages, and ratios to solve problems.
• Pay close attention to both verbal and written directions.
• Proven ability to express oneself clearly and concisely in both speech and written English.
• Proven skill in working both alone and collaboratively.
• Stress during work.
• Respect the privacy of all company data and other sensitive information.
• Possessing native-level command of the French and English languages may be necessary.
• Capacity to carry out responsibilities as outlined.
• Needs in Terms of Physique
• Appropriate mental and physical fitness for the duties involved in the work.
