Job Responsibilities and Overview:

  • All mappable floors are swept, dusted, damp mopped, washed, scrubbed, stripped, and finished.
  • Using instruments including mops, disinfectant sprays, buffers, and automatic floor and carpet
  • cleaners, this position dispenses and uses cleaning solutions.
  • Cleans carpets, upholstered items, and upholstery utilizing vacuum cleaners, spot cleaners, and shampooers.
  • Maintains sanitary conditions in restrooms by cleaning, washing, and disinfecting fixtures such as toilets, sinks, bathtubs, showers, etc., and replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Gets rid of messes caused by accidents.
  • The polish works wonders on various materials.
  • Defreezes, washes, and sanitizes refrigerators.
  • The dust on pictures, mounts, wall hangings, lights, and mirrors is much worse after being wet.
  • Cleaning at a high level with a moist cloth.
  • Tiled surfaces should be dusted dry.

Overview

  • hauls rubbish and waste away from a location.
  • Takes out trash, inspects containers for pests, and notifies supervisor.
  • Cleans trash cans and waste management facilities.
  • Sets out trash cans for collection.
  • Cleans ceilings by vacuuming tiles, air ducts, and frames.
  • Responsible for the assembly, relocation, and disassembly of event furnishings.
  • Protects and keeps an eye on the premises.
  • Maintains records of work accomplished on maintenance requests, vandalism, and other issues, and
  • reports them to a supervisor as necessary.
  • Taking readings of the temperature of the hot water in use, along with auditing and filling out related paperwork.

Qualification/ About the Applicant

  • Work history in an institutional setting, preferably in the roles of cleaner, housekeeper, and maintenance worker.
  • Proven competence with floor cleaning machinery, supplies, and solutions.
  • Practice implementing best practices for preventing the spread of infection.
  • Familiarity with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act that relate to this type of employment.
  • Familiarity with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
  • Capable of moving large objects (up and down stairs) and climbing ladders.
  • Superb communication abilities and the ability to keep the team on the same page.
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Competence in listening to and understanding directions, writing and organizing records, and using various forms of written and oral communication.
  • Capacity to back the Toronto Public Service’s core values of fairness, diversity, and respect in the workplace.
