This position is responsible for Ely and its environs. The Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire Branch will be there to help out any volunteers. Veterans and their families rely on the local SSAFA branches, which are supported by SSAFA Helpers. SSAFA could always use more support, so why not deliver a talk, volunteer at an event, or help out in the office? Volunteers are especially needed during certain seasons of the year. We need people who can provide some time on a flexible basis, whether they prefer behind-the-scenes organizing or public interaction.

Job Responsibilities and Overview:

• Staffing booths, acting as a steward, etc., during public events
• Participating in the delivery of holiday hampers to customers
• Speaking to communities and schools about SSAFA
• Providing assistance in the workplace by doing things like ordering promotional materials and stuffing envelopes
• People that are personable and have a positive demeanor
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; Capacity to represent SSAFA and its ideals to prospective clients, their families, other agencies, volunteers, and donors;
• Capacity to stay within the limitations of the job with respect to safeguarding, giving advice, etc.
• Consistent demeanor; keeping scheduled appointments; communicating changes in availability to the branch
• Capacity to conceal secrets and store data securely
• Ability to give two references, preferably from previous employers or other persons familiar with your work who are not related to you.
