Salary for Waste Handler job:
- CAD 20-30 per hour
Job Responsibilities and Overview:
- Maintain a high standard of client service.
- Maintain all machinery in accordance with Secure Energy’s specifications.
- Keep an eye on the waste bins at your business or organization to be sure they are being properly used.
- Help establish and maintain an orderly space for trash.
- Check that your bins for trash are up to code.
- Check the trash and accompanying papers for consistency by opening the containers.
- Consolidate similar trash into larger containers for easier handling and quicker disposal.
- Generate labels and other necessary documentation (such as manifests) for waste disposal and recycling.
- Participate in daily tailgating meetings and safety meetings
- Comply with Secure Energy’s Health and Safety Policies
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Field Hazard Assessment (FLHA), Hazard Identification (ID), and
- Inspections (I&I) must be performed and completed daily.
- Wear the proper personal protective equipment, such as chemical protective clothing and a face mask, when doing the job.
- Safe waste management requires a review of SDSs and analytical data.
- Data entry into the waste tracking system for all incoming, repacked, and outgoing shipments
- Perform a variety of manual tasks as needed
Qualification/ About the Applicant
- Ability to spend most of each day on your feet and the physical fitness to undertake daily physical chores such as lifting and transporting containers and other heavy objects
- Experience working in a setting where TDG or WHMIS is implemented is preferred but not needed.
- It is helpful to be familiar with BC trash policies and waste classification.
- Possessing a strong familiarity with local regulations concerning occupational health and safety is a plus.
- Having a strong work ethic and the determination to push through exhaustion, bad conditions, and long hours on the job is essential.
- Ability to complete routine paperwork such as shipping documents and safety forms
- Possessing proficient knowledge of computers and MS Office would be a plus.
- The ability to operate well under stress and fulfill tight deadlines is a must.
- We are looking for someone with experience but can train the right candidate.
