Salary for Waste Collection Operator job:

Job Responsibilities and Overview:
- Moves Solid Waste by hand into the garbage truck,
- Uses a hydraulic arm to collect trash,
- Wears all required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as CSA-approved reflective safety clothing (Class 2 Level), as outlined by the City of Woodstock.
- Observes a predetermined route when collecting Solid Waste from each residence.
obeys the laws governing traffic on public roads and local ordinances, - Drives the recycling truck to the transfer station, the garbage truck to the Oxford County Landfill, and other locations as needed.
- Carries out daily inspections, including pre-use inspections, as required by the MTO and City of
- Woodstock regulations and procedures.
- Check fuel levels daily before the conclusion of work.
- Washes the interior and outside of trucks to keep them looking nice.
- Maintains an accurate daily track of work hours, truck mileage, and equipment usage.
- Operates all winter maintenance equipment and carries out all other activities and responsibilities assigned by the Winter Operations Manager.
Qualification/ About the Applicant
- Education level equivalent to at least the 10th grade (as defined by the Corporation),
- Possessing a valid Driver’s License of Class “DZ” and a clean driving record,
- Capable of working in any climate and in excellent physical condition,
- It would be helpful to have experience driving trucks.
- Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight.
- Cooperation skills; the capacity to work well with others.
