Job Description:

Job responsibilities and duties:

As a worker, you will have to do and be responsible for the following:

  • Performs call answering and call forwarding functions on a sophisticated digital telephone network.
  • Directory data is retrieved from a database.
  • Answers inquiries from the general public about services available, contact information, business hours, etc. by compiling data from many sources. Gives out general college information over the phone when call volume permits.
  • Helps callers figure out what they need and puts them through to the right departments.
  • Makes appropriate long-distance calls for approved college personnel.
  • Keeps own copy of the company directory and related materials up-to-date to facilitate the timely and correct dissemination of information.
  • Provides periodic responses to concerns about basic telephone and voicemail functionality.
  • Problems with the PBX console or computer are reported to management.
  • Maintains constant communication with the PCC Public Safety Department for both urgent and routine matters.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to new operators, fill-ins, or student workers as needed.
  • Maintains staff listing and informs Supervisor of any changes.
  • Maintains proficiency in computer use through participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
  • All positions in this category are expected to complete additional duties that are linked to their primary responsibilities and may be assigned at any time.
