Ensure that all harvested tissue is securely retrieved, processed, and disposed of in accordance with the specified protocols by doing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Manipulation in Clean Rooms in accordance with certification standards and by performing aseptic tissue processing and manufacture of cellular therapies for clinical application. Follow established procedures for growing and transplanting cells from a variety of sources for use in orthopedics. Be able to aseptically produce tissue culture media, supplements, and reagents, and have experience working in a cleanroom dedicated to cell therapy. Using a flow cytometer to collect and examine data from samples.

Job Responsibilities and Overview:

• Assess the reliability and accuracy of existing laboratory techniques by performing quality control procedures such as verifying, documenting, and validating data accuracy.
• Keep an eye on the KPIs of your cleanroom.
• Check and calibrate equipment, monitor and clean the environment, and perform other routine maintenance tasks as outlined in standard operating procedures for the clean room and related facilities.
• Possess, obtain, and hone the specialized knowledge necessary to spot irregularities, confirm accurate reporting of them, and take corrective action as needed.
• Protect the privacy of patients by always backing up and securing their medical documents.
• Help create and refine research methods and protocols.
• Helps assess and roll out novel laboratory services that are useful.
• Take part in Aspetar’s internal audits and inspections as part of quality improvement and surveillance efforts.
• Collaborate with other Orthobiological Laboratory personnel to diagnose issues and explain test results to patients.
• The safe and accurate disposal of specimens and other laboratory materials, as well as the implementation of corrective actions where necessary, in accordance with regulatory requirements, should be reviewed and maintained as part of both internal and external laboratory safety programmes.
• Use established quality control processes to aid in environmental monitoring (measure, monitor, and accurately record).
• Liquid Nitrogen levels and temperatures in cryogenic tanks are checked once a month using data from the building management system.

• Take note of pertinent patient information and outcomes in the Laboratory Information System.
• If there are any differences in procedure, the Laboratory Director should be notified so that corrective measures can be taken.
• Help get the lab ready for international and national inspection and accreditation.
• Meet all regional, national, and international standards for accreditation.
• Maintain the standards established by the Aspetar Hospital and the Qatar Ministry of Public Health.
• Guarantee conformity to all quality control/quality assurance policies, laboratory safety laws, and accreditation requirements.
• Show that you care about delivering excellent service.
• Adhere to the requirements outlined in Aspetar Hospital’s Policy and Procedure Manual with regard to Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and Quality Improvement.

Qualification/ About the Applicant

• The ideal candidate will have worked in an orthobiological laboratory previously and will be familiar with the necessary procedures for the role.
• The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in stem cell culture, subculturing, cell counting, cell viability assaying, maintaining cells, and freezing them for later use.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively across disciplinary boundaries.
• Ability to take charge of one’s own work and adapt to new situations.
• Competence in switching between tasks and dealing with constant interruptions.
• Working well under intense time constraints.
• Those who have worked in the Middle East or another culture or in a remote area before are given preference.
